Coolsculpting® – Reshape Your Body Without Surgery

We can devote hours to “spot” exercise and months following special diets only to realize that neither has affected the very areas we want to reduce. If we don’t want to undergo a surgical procedure is there another answer? Fortunately, there is. It is called Coolsculpting®.

What Is Coolsculpting®?

Coolsculpting® is an advanced treatment to reduce body fat that does not require surgery. Coolsculpting® treatments freeze unwanted fat cells, of which a portion is destroyed and later eliminated by the body. A gel pad and applicator applied to the targeted area provide the control necessary to deliver exactly the right amount of cooling to the fat cells. Because it is non-invasive there is little time required for recovery.

How to Get Started

Your body and your goals are unique. That is why a visit to your Derick Dermatology provider to discuss your options is the best way to begin this journey. Together you will evaluate your body from various angles and discuss your goals for the areas that concern you.

A treatment plan designed specifically for you could involve as little as the initial clinic visit and a follow-up appointment. However, additional clinic time may be required to achieve your goals, especially if you have multiple areas to be treated. For instance, you may have excess fat at your waistline, hips, or thighs that you would like to reduce which might require additional appointments.

Common Areas Suitable for Coolsculpting®

Many of us suffer from excess fat in the upper arms, under the chin, inner and outer thighs, belly, waistline, bra area, and back. Your Derick Dermatology provider will prepare your Coolsculpting treatment plan to address your concerns and deliver optimum results.

What to Expect on Treatment Day & Beyond

Be prepared for your skin to feel cold at the targeted areas. This results from the actual freezing of the fat cells. The sensation subsides as the area being treated numbs from the cold. You may also feel some pulling on the area as the tissue is being eased into the handpiece. The applicator is secured in place over the targeted area with suction and delivers the correct amount of cooling required.
Many patients return to work or resume their normal activities immediately following treatment depending upon the areas that have been treated. You might experience some redness, swelling, bruising, itching, skin sensitivity, cramping, and tenderness following treatment. Be sure to discuss these and other symptoms with your doctor.

Noticeable results will be visible within two to six months as the body eliminates the destroyed fat cells. Once frozen, these fat cells will not return. However, remaining fat cells can still enlarge and it is critical to make an effort to maintain weight through diet and exercise.
