Since September of 2014, Derick Dermatology has been delighted to count Dr. Amanda LaReau among our highly skilled practitioners.

At the distinguished Stanford University, Dr. LaReau received a B.A. in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She then attended Yale University School of Medicine where she fell in love with dermatology: “In college and in medical school, I did research in immunology and cutaneous biology. I was fascinated with the detailed mechanisms of the skin,” she said. After Yale, Dr. LaReau completed a research fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology at Northwestern University followed by an internship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her internship in dermatology at University of Illinois at Chicago is what brought her to our great city and we couldn’t be more happy with her decision.

Dr. LaReau’s favorite part of being a dermatologist is that she gets to make people fall in love with their skin “whether it be clearing up their acne, curing them of skin cancer or a bothersome rash, or making them feel young again,” she said.

When this Board-Certified Dermatologist isn’t changing the lives of her patients, she enjoys running, exploring Chicago, and spending time with her husband and two sons. She is also known to enjoy the martial arts, as she has a black belt in both Karate and Kung Fu.

While you may not want to engage Dr. LaReau in a fight, you should look forward to being treated by her. “I am committed to giving each patient a personalized, knowledgeable, and supportive experience,” she said. “I am an avid supporter of utilizing technology to enhance patient education and awareness about skin health.”
