Bailey Ellington, Family Nurse Practitioner

One of Derick Dermatology’s all-star, professionals is Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice, Bailey Ellington. Her goals for patient care are compassionately expressed in a recent quote on the Derick Dermatology website: “I want to give all patients the same high quality of care I would provide to members of my family. My personal style is warm, welcoming and attentive.”

Bailey Ellington is accustomed to providing a superior level of service. She attended the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Her desire to do her best academically is clearly reflected in the awards and honors she received as an undergraduate. Included among those honors were her membership in the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the Dean’s List and being selected to receive the University of Iowa’s National Scholars Award. After graduating from the University of Iowa, she attended and received her nursing doctorate at Rush University.

Bailey’s clinical interests run the gamut of dermatology, from acne and eczema to skin cancer, to cosmetic, general, pediatric and adolescent dermatology. The professional environment at Derick Dermatology will give her the ideal opportunity to pursue those interests. When not working at Derick Dermatology, she also loves to travel, try new restaurants and spend her time with family and friends.

When asked in a recent interview why she decided to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, she didn’t hesitate. She had fallen in love with both the cosmetic and medical aspects of her new profession and credits a former mentor for explaining that “dermatologists often have an artistic personality which draws them to the field and allows them to recognize minute differences.” As Bailey noted, “I love connecting with patients and helping them.”

Her memberships in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners, Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing and her continuing role in Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society of Nursing will ensure that Bailey Ellington will always be in the forefront of her profession. She is looking forward to continued success helping the dermatology patients at Derick Dermatology.
