Tracy Campbell, MD

To say that Derick Dermatology is honored to have had this month’s Doctor on board for over four years is an understatement. Board-Certified Dr. Tracy Campbell joined our practice in 2012 and has been an asset ever since.

For her undergraduate degree, Dr. Campbell attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Biology and a BA in Theology. She continued her academic journey at Creighton in medical school then completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Resurrection Medical Center. From there, Dr. Campbell completed her residency as Chief Resident in Dermatology at Rush University Medical School then continued as a Fellow of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the University of California Davis Medical Center. These days, Dr. Campbell continues her journey in the world of academia, only now as a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the UIC College of Medicine.

As a visual person, Dr. Campbell was instinctively drawn to the world of dermatology. One of her favorite aspects of being a Dermatologist is seeing her patients years after treatment. “It is my passion to improve my patients’ lives one cancer at a time,” she says. “I’m committed to providing the highest quality skin cancer treatment and to maximizing the aesthetic outcomes after surgery.” When her patients greet her with a smile years after treatment, she knows it is because of how she helped them.

What Dr. Campbell’s patients might not know about her is that, as a theology major in college, she studied in Israel for a summer. On one of her archaeological digs, she found a coin that was later discovered to have been minted around the time that Jesus was alive, during the reign of Pontius Pilate.

When she is not digging around archaeological sites or treating patients, Dr. Campbell can be found hanging out with her family. “I love spending time with my nine-month-old son and my husband,” she says. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting her husband’s family farm in Missouri. The farm isn’t the only thing drawing her to Missouri, though: “We also travel to Missouri for MIZZOU football games as a family in the fall,” Dr. Campbell says.
