CoolSmooth: The New CoolScultping Applicator You’ve Been Waiting For

CoolSmooth: The New CoolScultping Applicator You’ve Been Waiting For
By: Hannah Heimdal

If you have been dreaming of a non-invasive, FDA-cleared way to sculpt problematic areas of the body – you’re in luck! CoolSculpting has made this dream a reality for many. This technology is based on cryolipolysis, a process in which fat cells are frozen and induced into programmed cell death and then naturally flushed out of the body. CoolSculpting has a variety of vacuum-based applicators for areas including the stomach, back, upper arms, chin, and inner thighs; any areas where you can pinch that extra inch. The concept behind the suction-based vacuum applicators is that when fat is drawn into it, it is isolated from the muscle, blood supply and heat, making it faster to freeze. For those who would like to treat an “un-pinchable” area of fat, you were out of luck – until now!

CoolSmooth is the brand’s first non-vacuum based applicator designed to treat problem areas without pinchable fat, like the outer thighs. 86% of participants in a clinical study, who did not change their lifestyle to lose weight, saw visible fat reduction after one treatment. CoolSmooth, like other CoolSculpting products, has been FDA cleared to non-surgically reduce thigh fat. Plus, unlike surgical procedures, most people are able to immediately return to their daily activities.

The only difference in the CoolSmooth applicator versus traditional CoolSculpting is that due to the non-vacuum based applicator, it does take longer for treatment sessions (typically an hour to an hour and a half in length).

Just like CoolSculpting, CoolSmooth is not meant to be an alternative to diet and exercise. For best results, the patient should be within 20 pounds of ideal weight for his or her height. Most patients will lose inches, but not pounds; in other words, your fat density will be reduced, but it does not ultimately affect your weight. CoolSculpting does not treat sagging skin, cellulite or stretch marks. Patients will typically start to feel and notice a difference one month post treatment, but it’s usually at the three month post treatment visit, at which post procedure photos are taken, that patients are able to fully appreciate and notice the transformation. With optimal maintenance and care, CoolSmooth results are permanent.
