Doctor Jessica Sheehan, Mohs Surgeon

Caring, compassionate physician, board certified dermatologist, and Mohs surgeon, Dr. Jessica Sheehan is an integral part of Derick Dermatology family. She stresses the partnership between doctor and patient and the physicians need to establish mutual respect and confidence. The key to her style can be found in her final statement on the website, “I treat my patients and coworkers as I would like to be treated.”

Mohs Surgeon

Having joined Derick Dermatology in 2014, Dr. Sheehan is accustomed to being the best she can be, providing superior service for her patients. She was educated at Macalester College, graduating cum laude. Her medical school was St. Louis University where she obtained her Doctorate of Medicine, this time graduating Magna Cum Laude. Even her residency, as Chief Resident at University of Chicago Hospitals reflected her drive to succeed. Following her fellowship at SkinCare Physicians in the demanding specialty of Mohs surgery, Dr. Sheehan began her challenging and rewarding career as a board certified dermatologist with Derick Dermatology.

When asked why she chose to become a dermatologist, she quickly replied, that she “loved all of the visual aspects/the awesome pictures in the textbooks.” Dr. Sheehan said that she was “looking for the option to do procedural medicine.” There was no hesitation about her favorite part of becoming a dermatologist. “Curing cancer,” an integral part of her Mohs Surgery specialty, she said.

Doctor Sheehan is an interesting study in contradictions. When not working, she loves to travel, read and sleep. In contrast, she admits to “having the makings of a real adrenaline junky who loves roller coasters, cliff jumping, skiing and scary movies.” However, she refrains from indulging in those passions because of her children.

High achiever, family oriented, highly skilled Mohs surgeon, and budding adrenaline junky, Dr. Sheehan is the complete package who offers her compassion and expertise to all of the current and prospective patients of her dermatology practice at Derick Dermatology.
